Many of us are asleep, wasting time and talent as our lives pass us by. We feel stagnant, unproductive, or bored. This is because we are not growing, not being effective or just not challenging ourselves. I too have been there… longing for more and simply unsatisfied with the mediocrity of life. Can you relate? Are you ready to leave mediocrity in the dust? Well you can! Here are 4 tips to get you started.
Excuses Have to Go
Excuses just seem to hang around. But today we’re packin’em up and shippin’em out! If anyone knows what it’s like to make excuse after excuse it’s me. They’re just always in the right place at the right time. It can be so convenient to grab one, throw it on top of that pile of laundry and kick back sipping coffee; or grab another one and toss it on top of that stack of paperwork. Though excuses are often convenient they’re rarely beneficial. They are the arch enemy of progress and productivity, so they must go.
I encourage you to become more disciplined. Make it a habit to do what you need to do when it needs to be done. You’ll feel so much better when you just do it. Consequently– once we let go of the habit of making excuses– in comes progress, new opportunities, achieved goals and the list goes on. Now that you’re getting moving in life, be sure to leave excuses behind.
The second tip is engaging your mind. Instead of letting your life live itself, turn the dial to manual, and you live life! Be mentally involved in every moment. Consider the impact your words and actions are having on your life; every choice has a consequence. Why do we just go through the motions then wonder why we aren’t where we could be? We must be intentional and purposed in everything we do and say. God’s word should guide us in this. (Isaiah 58:11). To start living your life purposefully plan and set goals. Also, healthy habits should be established that will push you toward your desired outcome.
This has everything to do with mindset and positivity. Why does the bible tell us, in Proverbs 4:23, to guard our hearts and minds? From the mind come our actions and words; if the mind is tainted so will we be. Fear and negativity are the direct opponents of positive thought and hope. The good news is that, no matter the current condition of your life, if it isn’t what you want it to be you can change it. I say to you, yes! You can be a better wife or mother. Yes! You can be successful. Yes! You can live for Christ. Yes! You can do all things through Christ who gives you the ability.
The key is to combat FEAR, which comes to discourage you and paralyze your motivation, abilities and hope. If you give in to fear you’ll never make a move. Negative thinking removes hope and demotivates you. So I’m telling you the glass is half full, and there is room for you to receive more. Half empty means you’re lacking and soon what you do have will be gone. What a grim perspective to have on life.
Envision being successful or closer to God, having a better marriage, or completing the degree. Also, speak good things. God gave our words power. (Proverbs 18:21). Boot fear and negativity out of your life. Do this, and see how much things will improve for you. Mindset is a major component in determining how your life unfolds.
Patience through the Process
It is possible to be happy and at peace no matter your circumstances. It is a learned discipline called contentment. If we never learn to be content then even with all that money can buy or your ideal situation, in some way, you’ll still be discontent. Why? Because issues in life are inevitable! It’s fine to desire improvement, but don’t focus on all the areas that are unsatisfying.
Know that the difference you want to see will come, and always remain in a place of thankfulness to God. It’s up to us whether we allow circumstances to keep us unhappy. Hold this nugget of truth in your heart. When you find yourself complaining, or focusing on problems – stop – and begin thanking God for things in your life. Do this, and watch His peace and joy fill your heart!
